BONE OF MY BONES : DESIRE BUT PROTECTED BY GOD

Hello everyone,

I hope that you are all well. I’m deeply grateful to God to share with you, a new piece of music called « Bone of My Bones ». It echoes the moment Adam, the first man, saw Eve his wife. His profound astonishment and joy made he speak those words : « And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh » (Genesis 2:23).

Adam recognized that she was truly part of himself. Eve came and filled the void Adam felt. To me, Adam’s expression translates powerful and fulfilled desire. Adam did not hesitate to take her as his wife. I want to invite you with me, to contemplate desire in itself and how to secure it with God. I will develop this article both for unbelievers and believers. Before to go further in this article, let’s read a simple the definition of desire.

« The act of desiring; a deep human aspiration toward an object that fulfills a longing »

In this context, we are talking about love towards a person. Including all the divisions that this desire holds in itself. Moral desire, Emotional desire, Spiritual desire, Sexual desire etc. In very rare cases, loving desire in itself can be very pure. People that don’t know God, can love purely and faithfully. We sometimes see beautiful couples, faithful to one another, without knowing or living for God, married for decades. However this category of people is rare and our foundation cannot be built upon rare cases. The reality is that we often see difficult break-up, numbered divorces, uncontrolled desire leading to adultery, and so many more. We see that desire can easily become dangerous in itself. A jealous person becoming mean or violent will act upon his/her desire! Or desire left alone will eventually die leading to separation.

Back in the first years of Creation, Adam was the first victim of his own desire. Instead of obeying God, he followed and listened to Eve, to rebel against Him. Since, death entered the world and our relationship with God was broken (this is why humanity, while aware of the divine, lacks to know and believe in God naturally). Adam preferred his own desire to His Creator, and humanity fell. Desire was uncontrolled and totally free from structure. We see therefore that we cannot apprehend desire lightly, if Adam the first man fell because of it. How to develop healthy desire then? God has a pattern for everyone of us, to delight from it properly. Before to go further, you have to know that God loves you and wants the best for you and your life. His Structure for desire isn’t to make you feel bad or restricted, but to protect you from severe pain.

DESIRE GOD FIRST

What does the Bible say ? « Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. » (Psalm 37:4). This will be our gold pattern for everything. God should be put first, and then our desire will be satisfied. Why? because our desire will be redirected, purified, structured and secured through the process. Don’t you believe that your desire will be less, if you give it to God’s Hands. It might take some time, some struggle and tears, but you won’t be disappointed. God is calling you so to believe in Him, from your heart. Then your lifestyle will reflect the faith you have placed it Him. So what does “Delight in God” means? Love God, love what He loves and reject what He rejects. Let’s see together what He loves, so that we can align our lives with His Desires.

1-) Love. Love God and people, even when you disagree with them. Even when they upset you. God is calling us to love our ennemies. Make your heart pure, wish good to everyone. Don’t think evil against God or anyone. It does not mean that you should hang out with everyone or become naive. But cultivate a beautiful heart both for God and everyone. (Matthew 5:44) (1 John 4:7-8).

2-) Truth. Don’t lie, to God or to anybody. Be sincere in your everyday lifestyle. It does not mean that you should tell everything to everyone, but avoid lying. If you end up lying, always tell your mistakes to God and ask Him to forgive and to help you to never lie. God loves you, don’t be afraid to tell your mistakes to God! (Ephesians 4:25) (Proverbes 12:22).

3-) Justice. Don’t cheat, steal or take advantage of everyone. In your business or work or study. Be fair with everyone. Let’s put it into perspective, if a person drop money (or anything else) in front of you. Take It and give it back to the person. If you see someone victim of injustice defend them. If you see someone being bullied, be friend with that person. Treat everyone the same. Pay what you need to pay to the state, be pure in your lifestyle. If you end up falling in those things, God loves you, go back to Him, ask for His forgiveness, ask Him to help you to please Him. We are all learning! (Luke 6:31) (Micah 6:8) (Proverbes 21:3)

4-) Mercy. Forgive. Be tender with everyone. Don’t be harsh, don’t be revengeful. It does not mean that you should hang out with the person that hurt you, but in your heart, it’s very important that you forgive. (Matthew 6:14-15)

5-) Humility. Don’t try to elevate yourself in life, in your own heart or in action but rather, search to be little. Don’t think that you are superior to anybody. Always acknowledge your mistakes. See others has greater than you. Search to serve and not to be served. The Bible teaches that we should lower ourselves and God will elevate us. (Philippians 2:3-4) (James 4:10)

6-) Faith. Trust in God, even when nothing makes sense and when everything is against you! Trust in God and His Word, the Bible. Don’t doubt in your walk with Him. (Hebrew 11:6)

7-) Faithfulness. Stay faithful to God, even when nothing makes sense. (Revelation 2:10)

8 – ) Patience. You will see with God, many things changing and happening fast. You will also see answered prayers in a decent short period of time. And you will see some other things not happening or changing at all. Some of your prayers will feel like they won’t happen at all. It’s completely normal and it is meant to build you and to make you be mature. Be patient and love the process even when it’s difficult! (James 1:4)

We could go on, but let’s focus on those for the moment.

DESIRE THROUGH GOD

Now, your desire will be purified through what we have seen above. Your life and character will improve and will position you to love and to be loved well. For romantic desire, you cannot go blindly into it, otherwise your heart might certainly be crushed, and will take months perhaps years to recover properly. It’s too dangerous. First thing you should do, on a daily basis, is to pray to God to send you the right person. You must be able to identify when it is the right person. That person must be submitted to God and The Bible. You should look at his/her life, his/her actions to see if that person is genuine with Jesus. Words only don’t matter. Actions are required to be assured. Then get to know each other, then if you see that the person is all for God, you can have more assurance for the relation. It should lead to marriage.

The person should never want to have intimacy with you before to marry you. Marriage will act like a serious protection and it’s ordained by God! Then, if all is safe, your desire must be intense through God for the loved person and vice-versa. Don’t be scared to love intensely in all sphere, the person God is making you one with. May all the divisions that love holds be satisfied : emotional, spiritual, moral, sexual etc. You can be free to love him/her very intensely in everything, because now your desire is now under Divine Protection. If you want to get prepare to enter romance, I have written another article about it here another about intimacy here

HOW TO BELIEVE IN GOD

God designed a universal and exclusive way to believe in Him. Jesus Christ says that God is Holy and Just. It other terms, God cannot tolerate evil and will punish it completely one day. The main and big issue, is that — you and I — already have accumulated a great deal of evil since we reached the age of responsibility. Therefore, we will be judged one day for our mistakes and sins. Have we ever lie, cheat, steal, hate etc? We will have to respond to God for it one day. Will we be found guilty or righteous, in front of such a Holy God? We will be found guilty and ready to be sent to perdition, hell. None can escape. God’s Holiness is too high and perfect to bypass.

However, Jesus-Christ says that God is also Love. God loves you so much, that He created a way to avoid you any judgement, and punishment. He doesn’t want you, to pay for any of the sin you have committed. So God Himself became a human being, through the Persona of Jesus-Christ. He then lived the morally perfect life we should all have lived. He committed no evil, not even once. Then, instead of punishing you for your sins and mistakes, God punished Himself. How did He do it? When Jesus was tortured and put on The Cross, He absorbed in His Body, all the possible evil you have committed. All of your sins were absorbed into Himself. When Jesus died, your sins died in His Body as well. When He resurrected from the dead, He proved who He claimed to be : God Almighty.

Now, God says that, if you believe from your heart, that Jesus Christ died and resurrected for you, you will be saved. What does it mean? Your relationship with God is established. You have Eternal life. You won’t have to go to Judgement day. Your past is no longer existing. The old you has passed away. You are a new creature, with a new heart, new desires, new goals with God and for God. If you want to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and don’t know what to say, I hope this little prayer will be helpful :

"Dear Jesus, I have heard about you, but I don't know you personally. I believe that you love me and that you died and resurected for me, to save me, so that I can be forever with you. Please, come into my heart, and lead me to you, reveal yourself to me so that I can be certain of you, I ask this in Jesus Name. Amen."

Now you are a saved person. If your faith is sincere, you will notice changes after changes in your life and in your heart. God is working through you. I encourage you to read one of the four biographies of Jesus in the Bible. Matthew, Mark, Luke or John, and get familiar with your Savior! God bless you!
